Set a PIN and control who can view members-only pages and media

Sharing Protected Content

Some parts of your website can be protected — kept private so only the right people can see them. This is useful for a members-only video library, a client review gallery, or downloads you don't want to be public.

This guide explains how to let people into protected content using a PIN, and how to see and remove who has access.

Protected areas are set up by your website developer. If you want a page or section made private, ask them to protect it. This guide covers what you do once it's protected.

Who Can Already See Protected Content

As soon as a section is protected, it's automatically visible to:

  • You, the website owner
  • Teammates you've added with editing access (see Managing Teammates)

Everyone else is locked out until you let them in. The easiest way to let visitors in is a share PIN.

Sharing a Page with a PIN

A PIN is a short secret code (like a password) that you give to people so they can view a protected page. Anyone with the PIN can view the page for 24 hours — they don't need an account.

  1. Sign in to your website.
  2. Visit the protected page you want to share, on your live website.
  3. Look for the round Share button near the bottom of the screen (a gray circle with a share icon).
  4. Click it. A small Share Settings window opens.
  5. Type a PIN into the PIN box — for example, spring2026.
  6. (Optional) Add a Label to help you remember who it's for, like Client review.
  7. Click the blue Set PIN button.

Your PIN is now active for that page.

Send the PIN to your visitors

  1. Open Share Settings again on the same page.
  2. Click the link button to copy the page's web address.
  3. Paste that link into an email or message and include the PIN you chose.

Tell your visitors to open the link and enter the PIN when asked.

What Your Visitors See

When someone without access opens a protected page, they see a simple screen that says "Enter the PIN to access this content." with a box to type the PIN.

  1. They type the PIN you gave them.
  2. They click Submit.
  3. The protected page opens, and they can keep browsing that content for 24 hours.

After 24 hours they'll be asked for the PIN again.

Changing or Removing a PIN

To stop sharing a page, or to change its code:

  1. Sign in and visit the protected page.
  2. Click the round Share button, then open Share Settings.
  3. You'll see the Active PIN with its label.
  4. Click the red Delete PIN button.

The old PIN stops working immediately. To set a new one, follow the steps in Sharing a Page with a PIN again.

Reviewing Who Has Access

You can see everyone who has standing access to your protected content in your dashboard:

  1. Go to your website's dashboard.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Click the Media Access tab.

Each entry shows who has access, whether it's an individual person or a group (role), and which protected section it covers. To remove someone, click the red Revoke button next to their entry and confirm. Their access ends right away.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the Share button

  • Make sure you're signed in to your website.
  • Make sure you're on a protected page — the button only appears where sharing is available.
  • If it still doesn't appear, your website may not be set up for PIN sharing yet. Ask your website developer to enable it.

A visitor says the PIN doesn't work

  • Double-check they're using the exact PIN, with the same capitalization.
  • Confirm the PIN hasn't been deleted or replaced with a new one.
  • Make sure they're opening the correct page link — a PIN set for one page may not cover a different page.

A protected video or image won't load

The person viewing the page isn't allowed to see it. They need to either be signed in with access, or enter the PIN for that page first. Protected media will not load for anyone who hasn't been let in.

I want to give a group ongoing access without a PIN

PINs are best for quick, temporary sharing. For members who should sign in with their own accounts, your website can use a registration form instead. Ask your website developer about setting up member sign-ups.
